Rancho Los Alamitos Adventures: Prins Family

A first child is full of wonder and excitement. It is a time to dream and imagine all the adventures ahead. When that child is born prematurely the world stops and the fight begins. For Lisa and Bryan, baby Jackson’s entrance into the world was a mixture of joy and anxiety. Born at 30 weeks and 2 days, weighing only 2 lbs. 11 oz he challenged their vision of parenthood as they spent the first 93 days of his life in the NICU. Jackson proved he was a fighter and the strength of these little ones continually amazes us all. He is now strong and curious, active and brave. Spending a day with this preemie was a true joy.

From the moment I met Lisa and Bryan it was clear that they adored both their son and each other. Adversity has a way of refining us all and these two have emerged with a light in their eye and a dedication to their family that is beautiful to experience. Documenting their love for one another and for Jackson resulted in some great images that I know will be cherished for generations to come.

My absolute favorite locations for sessions are those ones that combine interesting scenery with a sense of wonder. I love when we are able to explore, play and discover because that is when the magic happens. So when Lisa asked me for locations I immediately suggested Rancho Los Alamitos in Long Beach. This historic property has amazing gardens, old barns, chickens and horses. It was our playground for the day.

Lisa and Bryan – thank you for allowing me to tell your story. It was truly a joy to know you and I cannot wait to see how Jackson continues to grow. I know your family will be full of laughter and love.  -xo, Erin

I adore the less than Pinterest perfect images, the ones with baby drool and runny noses. To me these are such markers of childhood and will pass so quickly. Jackson was eager to show off his new skills. From crawling and exploring to standing up he was quick to show just how much he has grown.

Chickens and horses are not common sites around Los Angeles. Being able to explore them here is a true adventure.
