On a beautiful Southern California day my beloved and I woke far earlier than we would on any other day spent playing hooky from work. This day was special though. It is a day we talked about our entire relationship together and one we finally made happen. We were headed to Disneyland! Coffee in hand we were like giddy school kids setting off for an adventure, determined to spend ever minute we could exploring the park.
We maximized our time at Disneyland, from the minute it opened until the park shut its gates, and were not disappointed. Disney was decked out in slender for both Christmas and its 60th anniversary party. I will confess I am not really a Disney theme park girl. I don’t think I truly understood the magic of the park before. Yet, hand in had with my love I found a whole new sense of magic and discovery I never knew it contained. My husband has a beautiful childlike heart. He finds the wonder in the every day and constantly looks for ways to play. He reminds me of the spark of imagination I so often lose in the hustle of the day and the box of “adulthood”. He is good for my soul and exploring this place through his eyes is a memory I will cherish.
I also really enjoyed the chance to practice some street photography. Documenting other families enjoying the park, kid meltdowns and all, was a fun challenge. I loved all the different light and situations shooting at a theme park offered and would love to document more family stories at the greatest place on earth! Let me know if you are headed to Disneyland or California Adventure soon. I would love to join so you can leave the camera at home and just make memories. Here are just a few of my favorite images from the day. Enjoy!
